Though genetically an alien conceived on the late planet Krypton, Superman is an American by birth, born in a Kansas corn field. Living by the moral values instilled in him by his Earthly parents, Superman's high ideals are sometimes mistaken for naivete, his steadfast determination for unrealistic optimism, by those who cannot or will not understand him.

Through his deeds, Superman has become Earth's preeminent super hero. Time and again, through all adversity, he has proven himself a true hero, capable of whatever bravery and self-sacrifice is necessary to right a wrong or save a life.

Superman has actually been worshipped by some of his many admirers, but he is not a god. Though slow to anger, he does not suffer villains gladly. Superman is, at heart, a warm, compassionate, courageous man with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. He has devoted his life to the promotion of truth, justice, and the great ideals of the American way.
